PR MARKETING INTERN

As the PR/Marketing Intern, you’ll help spread the word about Chaara. You’ll communicate directly with all team members, philanthropists and the media. Our brand is a core part of Chaara’s success and you will be too!

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Manage and update the social media outlets
– Draft newsletters and outreach materials
– Assist with Volunteer Orientations and events
– Explore new ways to market Chaara to various media outlets
– Maintain Chaara’s relationships with our philanthropists
– Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
– Research current trends in PR and marketing
– Ensure our branding is the same everywhere

SKILLS
You’re passionate about your role
You love talking to new people; you’re eager to learn and inspired to be part of something big. You know it’s crucial to learn the ropes of the organization in order to be good at your job. You’re committed to Chaara’s mission and helping people become Philanthropists.
You’re articulate, direct and professional.
You’re more than capable of providing information concisely and effectively. You enjoy writing and are comfortable speaking in small or large groups.

You ask questions
You don’t assume. Instead, you learn a system inside and out so you can make the most of your experience. You’re not afraid to say you don’t know. You see critique as a good thing and hope to learn from it.

You have the basics down pat
You know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop and basic online tools to manage data and contact information. You’re a master at using and sorting data to it’s easy for anyone to use. You already use facebook, twitter and linkedin everyday.

You’re independent and self-motivated.
You can handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision. You relish the chance to own your projects. You’re confident and capable to representing Chaara to our most passionate supporters.

COMMITMENT
Applicants will be available for at least four months, and be located in Toronto for that time. The position requires 2 days per week. Wednesdays are required, and the rare but occasional weekend.

COMPENSATION
This is an unpaid internship but is an exceptional opportunity to gain PR and marketing experience at a non-profit with an ambitious mission. We can work with your institution to give you academic credit for your experience.

WEB DESIGN/PROGRAMMING INTERN

As the Web Design/Programming Intern, you’ll help manage our website. You’ll communicate directly with all team members and help update the website and databases. Our website is a core part of Chaara’s success and you will be too!

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Manage the database of website contents
– Aid with security of the website
– Update the website contents when needed
– Explore new ways to improve the website and online resources
– Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
– Help with the newsletter mailing list of updates
– Create an awesome experience for the website users

SKILLS
You’re passionate about your role
You love coding, you know what it’s like to get into the zone and create a product. Tweaking and testing the site, maybe running different A/B tests to see what works.

You ask questions
You don’t assume. Instead, you learn a system inside and out so you can make the most of your experience. You’re not afraid to say you don’t know. You see critique as a good thing and hope to learn from it.

You have the basics down pat
You know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop and basic online tools to manage data and contact information. You understand the basic knowledge of web design, perhaps even UX Design. Your knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress will allow you to modify, build or tweak any website. You understand SEO and how to manage plug-ins. Java and parallax is a plus!

You can handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision. You relish the chance to own your projects. You’re confident and capable to representing Chaara to our most passionate supporters.
