Crescent Town and the larger Massey-Taylor Region, is designated as an at-risk neighbourhood by the City of Toronto. The families in this neighbourhood require more programs to be facilitated by local community organizations for healthy initiatives.
This grant fund was used for the purchase of health equipment for parent-children playgroups. Spanning over six playgroups, the lessons consisted of parents and care givers interacting with children through active sports, to learning about healthy living and eating.
Twenty-four children and Thirteen caregivers benefited by taking part in the program. At the end of each workshop, feedback received from the parents was overwhelmingly positive. This equipment purchase served as a valuable
